This song is one of my first I have done.
It is a well known medieval tune. The song was written by Walther von der Vogelweide, the most celebrated German medieval lyric poet. Its subject matter is Palestine and the crusades.

  • It's lovely. Very good version, I like it. Reminds me of Dead Can Dance :)

  • Geseier, Glocken und regen gehören aber nicht dazu.

Grausig und disharmonisch verstörend, ich mags nicht.

    Das Ende geht.

  • Very impressive with the arabic prayer calls...

  • @DerBadischeGryphen

Propoganda, maybe not. He was after all an independent song writer and poem writer. The feelings in this song could be how he genuinely felt on the matter, not just a state issued saying.

To argue the point, he did write 13 entire stanzas, most of which are a kind of reflecting almost nostalgic look at the Holy Land. It's not until the end where he finally states the point of the righteousness of the crusaders.

  • Kristen, juden unde heiden

jehent, daz diz ir erbe sî:

got müeze ez ze rehte scheiden

    durch die sîne namen drî.

Al diu werlt diu strîtet her.

Wir sîn an der rehten ger:

reht ist, daz er uns gewer.

In this strophe Walther directly speaks of the Christians right of Palestine, that it's god's will. Because of that the Palästinalied is a clear crusade propaganda.

  • @Mantu089 The song talks of other things. It indirectly wants the people for a crusade!

  • @Mantu089 hm, man, this song was about Christian crusaders CONQUERING Jerusalem and Palestine..... and there is even a verse claiming Jews have the equal right to the Holy Land... so...

  • Whow, very beautiful !!! Give the people of Palestine freedom and peace !!!

  • Very nice, original! I appreciate it!
