i visited the museum last month, i did the POW long march with the RAF as a memorial to remember the veterans. It was the most amazing experiance i have ever done in my life and it is something that i wil never forget. Them boys who dug that tunnel are some of the most remarkable men is history.

Bear in mind that the tree line outside the camp has also changed.
Thanks for filming!

I am asuming that because you were on a biking trip, and were visiting the site of the great escape, you replicated the famous bike jump over the border's fence.

@jpjonesy They found parts of a pump, one of the carts and a range of other escape objects. I am not sure it it is still on youtube but there was a documentary by Channel 4 (UK) which followed the excavation, also showed modern day RAF officers digging a new tunnel. I think tunnel george went beneath the theatre into the guards weapon stores- the prisoners wanted to be able to arm themselves in case of emergency.

Has Tunnel George been excavated? If so, when? Also, did they find anything?

The fourth Great Escape tunnel has been excavated and re-sealed by British experts. See the fascinating details discovered about George in an exclusive 7 September 2011 article posted on scotsman.com entitled Lost Great Escape Tunnel is Pinpointed.

Yes, a 4th tunnel was called George, but this post-dates the Great Escape.
