VICTORIA - Making it big in the business world is about more than just a good idea. Its how you sell it. "You wouldn't believe the business sense I developed from being an exotic dancer," says Chris Pappas who just launched a romantic event planning business.
Pappas hopes his audition for season six of Dragons' Den will get him one step closer to a spot on the show which would put him in front of the "dragons", Canadian business moguls who have the cash and the know-how to turn an idea into something big.
The producers spent the day at the Inn at Laurel Point in Victoria. They say they're looking for new ideas and well-prepared pitches.
Auditions are just five minutes long so people will brilliant ideas really need to wow the panel. And that's lust what Clint Dalsin plans to do with three top-secret ideas. "I was coming her on the bus, and I came up with an idea for something you can use on the bus," says Dalsin, but that all the inspiring inventor will say about it. "The vultures are out there."
So far, the producers are impressed, but they know Vancouver Island has even more talent. Dragons' Den auditions move to Nanaimo tomorrow at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.
