The bottom line is this: This all comes down to sola scriptura. I believe this is the one central issue that Catholics and Protestants should be debating. Without sola scriptura, the Catholic Church can make whatever claims they want about Mary, and Catholics must believe it. They run wild with all this nonsense simply because they give themselves the liberty to do so. Talk about arguing in a circle.

The Assumption of Mary is based upon apocryphal and spurious writings such as the Obitu S. Dominae, De Transitu Virginis... Would you also defend the existence of unicorns, dragons, leprechauns, mermaids, elves....?

The is no historical evidence for the bodily assumption of Mary. It is not in scripture or in any other historical documents. The speaker says that there is an oral tradition. So where is the oral history? Never written down in the first 400 years. So it is best to make no teaching since no verification can be made. Rev 12 is about a women not know if it is Mary. So I believe that no conclusion should be made. Authority must have basis in history. Jesus had 500 witness of resurrection.

Again you must read the bible. Can you kidnap a person and bring them to a river to baptize them and thus they will be saved? No, you cant, and neither can you make that choice for an infant.
