  • Jaydeismylife: Thanks for viewing the video and for your concern from my safety! I just want to let you know that this footage was filmed 9 1/2 hours after the tsunami hit Maui and the all-clear had already been given by Civil Defense 4 hours earlier.

  • Napili Point Resort is about 1/2 mile from Kapalua Resort and is located literally out on the "point" just feet away from Honokeana Bay. The tsunami was approx. 7' and the ocean came within 3 feet of the sidewalk by our lower level units - so close but no damage. Kapalua has a good elevation and wasn't in any danger.

  • I was thinking, "Maybe someone can go out there and bring that half-sunk boat that's been out there for years."

  • i like lahina its my favorite other than where i live in kihei

  • interesting

  • Nice brah. Surfed there sometime back in summer 04 -06. Had to jump off the ramp near the old whaling vessel Carpathian. Keep it real, stay back and in focus. +++

  • @xymbalreborn No way lol. That's how I knew this area haha. It's a landmark... well a watermark I guess lol.

  • Crazy footage but your crazier to go and film the ocean when a tsunami is hitting our shores. I guess its cooler to make it on youtube than to be safe and away from the ocean. That's how people get killed when they don't take it seriously or make bad judgment calls.

  • Wow - to think about the volume of water that is moving - It's the whole frickin' ocean!

That's something you don't see every day...Very nice job of capturing a phenomenal event.

  • Cool... wish I had been there then... I wanna go back!

  • @ccnc1g Kapalua had little to no impact.. as of today, Maui has some minor private property damage.. nothing being reported from any of the resort hotels including Kapalua.
