Thanks for posting this. Im actually in this video at 6:07. Alex Winter (from bill and ted) was filming this night for some "video magazine" he was trying to launch. I think is was called smash video. Such good memories. I cant tell you how happy I was to come accross this. And ironically enough, Im going to see JA this tuesday at the JAF for their reunion :)
I'm pretty sure the actual concert footage was at the Wiltern theatre (also in L.A.) previous to the John Anson Ford shows when they opened for Love and Rockets. That was my first JA show and I specifically remember Perry's banter about taking off his jacket...I was with a friend who had seen them one time before when apparently his pants had ripped open and he played several songs with with his schmeckel hanging out. (yeah, I said "schmeckel" ...) The sound check footage is obviously the JAF.
thank you for posting this. I think its really cool to see such old footage and the time when they had to be the coolest group in music. I can only dream of what it was like to be in that scene in Los Angeles in the late 80's. If I could travel in time I would ether to San Francisco in 1966 or I would go to LA in 1987. Jane's Addiction is one of the best. No matter what has happened since, they will always be the embodiment of what is cool in rock and roll.
'perry is god' but even god must one day be replaced with young blood and fresh skin. i guess none of us wanted to believe that day would ever come. when you are young you rule the world, and it seems like nothing can touch you. perry was absolutely amazing in every way. this is the way i want to remember him forever.
