From http://www.safeberg.com, Online backup is practical, but is it secure? For privacy, you'll have to take the key to your backup offline. How can you do that? Print it on paper! This video shows how you can use a Safeberg Paper Key (a 4.096 bits RSA in a Datamatrix) to restore your precious data.

  • If they already have access to your computer and your files, they wouldn't need to your break into your online backup now would they?

  • So why can't that picture I just uploaded be hacked? You think the malware developers might just be clever enough to grab a copy of that along with your user id and password when you restore your files?

  • If someone really wants to get ur key, they still can get it after u insert/connect ur SD card/phone/camera and before u delete ur picture of the key. It's that really secure?

  • @poptel Some people might decide they'd rather burn the PDF to a CDR or spare usbkey, to then store it somewhere physically secure without it being quite so vulnerable as paper.

    Interesting idea though!

  • notice in video they option to import pdf file?

so you can print key off to paper or save it as a file

    onto he/she computer. hmm

  • crappy screendesign but really good sounds

  • Nice video! Very clear to me!

  • Sounds very secure!

  • Nice, they can't hack paper (yet).

  • Of course nothing will be 100% secure, but since you're keeping the key not on your computer, it looks very safe. Now I only need locks on my room :P
