I have no idea what one post means by the Symposium being "dominantly male and gay," when that is obviously not the case and the word "gay" would have no application to Greek culture anyway, where homosexuality meant something entirely different than what it means today. When Shakespeare wrote his most famous sonnet, comparing a man to a summer's day, it obviously was not a confession of homosexual lust.

Although the perspective in the Plato Symposium may have been dominantly male and gay, the complexity of love is a very general theme, which is beautifully expressed here. My compliments for it.
