It is so ridiculous to me that to be a muslim you have to negate your African name and adapt an Arabic one just as in the past to be a christian you had to abandon your name for a 'christian' one. This is a tool of colonialism and leads to the sort of division you find now in Sudan. Thed nothern Sudanese are the result of miscegenation between Africans and the conquering Arabs. The original Sudanese like the original Ethiopians and Somalis were black people as ancient historians attest to.
