Creating Drama with Tall Plants
Most of us know that taller plants should be placed in the back of the garden. The reason is twofold: They look better there, and they won't block the light falling on the shorter plants.
Tall plants can ground the garden and also add dramatic flair. I placed tall ironweed in the middle of one garden area in my yard. It stands out, is bold, and makes a great statement in August and September.
Silphium, another tall plant, will attract wildlife and brighten your yard wherever you place this tall beauty.
Still other plants -- for example, Angelica and Joe-Pye weed -- will perform year after year, and although very tall, have a somewhat lacy feeling.
Whatever tall plant you choose, you can't go wrong adding one or two specimens to your yard.

I know a kind blue eyed fellow who is always looking for new tall plants to add to his dramatic garden.

Thanks for all the great info!! Im only allowed to put up fence in back yard, but being able to plant flowers will help block out the neighbors growing car junk yard in the front yard.
