Actually Archer could beat Berserker easily with unlimited blade works. Everyone who have played the UBW ending or saw the UBW movie know that he can do the same thing that Gilgamesh does but even better(throw an unlimited number of swords towards the enemy). They just made him lose so that the plot could continue. Archer/Emiya is the strongest servant :)

@PaRiS7654 I understand Archer had to also avoid hurting Ilya; he comes from somewhere between Ilya and Saber's routes so he knows Ilya will survive the war (and become something of a good person) if she doesn't die there.

If you remember the game, in UBW near the end, when Shiro fights archer, he says something like "If i were fighting any other servant, i would lose, but since i can project my weapons faster than he can get his, i can win". So even if he trains and becomes much stronger, if he doesn't use UBW he can lose against, for example, Lancer (Gae Bolg' effectiveness depends on the opponent's luck, and Archer's is the worst). His other stats are crappy, too.

sigh archer...all time favorite anime char lol, there is no Fate Stay Night game in warcraft 3 where shiro cant solo atleast 5 servants in his unlimited blade works if you know how to play him lol

The worst part in my opinion of UBW is that the swords are full of suck. Look ridiculously flimsy.

@LeserDrac333 you shoud see how Bersrker(lancelot) fights against the gate of babylon he just catches the weapons mid air and uses it to crush the other weapons as they approch Truly badass Fate/Zero go watch it 10 eps r already out

@MohdAsyraf9 However, after aeons of being a Guardian Spirit, Shirou starts to hate being a hero, every time he is summoned to save the earth, he only ever see's ruin and death, since he is summoned when something threatens the planet. Every time, he has to kill to save the world, which was not what he imagined he would become when he chose to be a Guardian Spirit, he cannot save everyone, he must always kill some to save many. As such, his personality is kinda twisted compared to Shirou of now.

@MohdAsyraf9 No, he IS Shirou, or more exactly, Shirou of the future, Archer is the result of what Shirou will become if he continues along his wish of becoming a hero, eventually in the future, Shirou reaches that level of strength, and becomes a *Guardian Spirit*, a heroic soul which is summoned during the earth's time of crisis to save the planet, coincidentally, he also became eligible for The Holy Grail War, he is the only hero of the future rather than the past in the series.
