Take a peek at the Ivey Abitz Spring Prelude 2009 Collection. Drawing upon styles ranging from depression era immigrant garments to european upper class attire from the 1800's, New York designer Cynthia Ivey Abitz gathered glimpses of these time periods and visually combined them with present-day sensibilities. She creates with the idea that the purpose of garments should be to celebrate everyday life while respecting ourselves and those around us through the way we dress.
Juxtapositions within the collection develop this idea, seen in the combination of homespun-like textured linen in trousers worn alongside brocade jackets, or the purposely crumpled pleats worn in a silk taffeta. The result is a collection filled with versatile new designs and fabric meant for sublime once-in-a-lifetime occasions, as well as casual everyday wear. The same garments can be worn for all occasions in life, depending upon how they are mixed together.
