Flash & Seven were a year old and 1.5 inches long in 1997 when I got them. Flash is now 11 years old and 24 1/2 inches long. Since he doesn't hybernate, he sleeps in a shed with an electric pig blanket for warmth in the winter.

  • Are you kidding? Sulcata is the FASTEST growing tortoise. In 3 years it will be 7 to 8 inches measuring front to back (not measuring over the hump).

  • what do you feed your tortoise? it looks really healthy.

  • @skadoink

90% lawn, 10% fresh carrots, broccali and zucchini

  • When will be ready for sex?

  • @akarmi2008

    every day

  • I absolutely hate it when a persons tortoises beak outgrows like that. One of mines went like that for a while and I had to do extensive fucking filing on it to get it to slowly grow in the right shape again. I dont suggest anyone does that themselves btw, I just happen to know what I'm doing.

Males will fight like hell in summer when the heat goes up. Same with any other species. I've had to seperate my Horsfields for that very reason. Sad.

  • @tw1stedgrudge

Flashes odd growth on his beak broke off one day and it never grew back.

  • Nice vid! I've had my sulcata for almost 2 years now and was small enough to fit in the palm of my hand and paired with our bearded dragon in a 50 gal tank when we got him. He is now nearly the length of my forearm and continually growing fast as he now owns our back yard.

  • my sulcata seems that doesnt have a nose hole....

  • Looks like u where feeding them the right stuff the shell looks good. I just got a California desert tortes but I though the African sper and the Cali are the same? Well what do u feed him?

  • I have had mine for 2 years now and she is still small. She has grown a little bit but she is about the size of a deck of cards.

  • 0:24 I think the one on the right is a girl..
