"Clair de lune from scratch" is a video lesson series designed to help folks who have never played the piano before get started right away learning how to read real music and play this masterpiece by Claude Debussy. The secret that all teachers use is to teach in small portions, and I hope this will be a fun learning experience for everyone who follows along. You'll get an overview of the whole piece in this video, along with a preview of the different camera angles, screenshots of the digital sheet music score, and a computer representation of the damper pedal to help you learn more dynamically. Please post questions in the comments below, or better yet - send me your video responses showing what you'd like help with, and I'll do my best to integrate those questions alongside the video tutorials. Above all - have fun!

You can also download the MusicReader version of Clair de lune itself here: http://airturn.com/musicreader-library/piano-solos/debussy-clair-de-lune-1905...

MusicReader is a program that gives you the ability to annotate your score with digital ink, just like I do on these lesson videos. For more information about MusicReader, please visit http://airturn.com/musicreader/musicreader

In fact, these lessons were designed specifically for folks who have NEVER played the piano before or had any music reading lessons! Try them out and let me know if they help you :)

  • I have been thoroughly enjoying learning this piece of beautiful music through your well explained tutorials. Never before have I ever had a more explicative teacher in all my life. You cover everything from the basics to the most extreme. I'm extremely impressed at how you've chosen to break down each segment measure by measure. I never thought I could ever learn how to play such a complex piece of music at the novice level. Would you be willing to post a tutorial on Bella's Lullaby? Thank you.

  • I've played piano for a few years off and on, can read notes and all and I STILL can't master this piece. Actually, I gave up....but finding your video gave me hope. thank you...maybe I can try again now.

  • @101mercenary I didn't know it was possible to master this piece.. there's always something you can add to it everytime you play to give it more feeling and emotion in the outlet.
