Do you have any idea of the insane economic benefits that sporting events like the Olympics bring? I'm going to guess you're somewhere between 25-45 because you seem to have the same thought pattern of most of these people. The same thought pattern that put your country, and essentially the entire world into economic crisies. With the exceptions of Canada, Germany, ect.

Brilliant! I'm looking forward to it! I worked in Sydney in the 2000 olympics and you are in for a treat. The buzz and the happies that come from an olympics is about to hit you. It's not so much the games, but the people on the street. Everyone smiles, everyone is happy, it's a good time.

Why do I get the impression that nobody gives a fuck about the Olympics? If the pseudo middle classes want to spend a fortune watching some twat in spandex falling out of a canoe, that's fair enough. Just stop shoving this shit down people's throats. Javelins and shotputs mean less than nothing to most human beings. As for Lord Coe; If I ever catch sight of him when I'm out on the piss, I'll be sure to ram an egg and spoon firmly up his anus.

Well, when you consider that the NHS spends about £1b p.a. treating just obesity, I reckon the whole London 2012 thing is a pretty good deal for Joe Brit taxpayer! Presumably you don't think tax revenue should be spent on redevelopment of a vast urban wasteland, infrastructure improvements, low-cost housing for regular families, and top-class sporting facilities for the local community? Most of the cost of actually hosting the Games is borne by sponsor, TV, ticketing and merchandising revenue.
