It's really sad because Charlie Chaplin said this speech in 1940, which sums up the whole problem of modern society, and a lot of people saw this movie at the time and just look what the World has become today... This speech was more than visionnary, this speech should be the anthem of mankind, but it looks like the majority of people are already brainwashed and don't know how to listen anymore...

Actually he wasnt exiled until 12 years later after the film Limelight aired, though it was a combination of his views expressed in Limelight and Monsieur Verdoux...which was considered a pro-soviet film. True it was his views that got him exiled, but not the ones in this film.

Umm, do not totally agree much of the speach is a dig at Hilters Ideals, the cheers at the end Chaplin saying "your followers"(the Nazis) will clap anything. It´s an ideological rally for ideological followers as a point.

I see both Good and bad notions in the speech. I´ll give it a 6 out of 10.
