How it all evolve into a song...
Derrick : "I want to try my new recording equipment"
Alf : "OK give me some chords to start with"
Derrick : "Ok I will play on the synthesizer Em, Fmaj, Em, Gmajor..blah blah" (plays a very choir like effect)."And I want to add this drum beat". (Starts the drum on the synthesizer)
Alf : "... Drum beat sounds strange but this progression and the choir like effect of your synthesizer leads me to think of a combination of Chick Corea and a new age genre"
Derrick : "Then Write a song over it and repeat this theme twice
Alf : "Ok...Maybe a spanish song since this is what I am getting" (Pens down...). "OK ready"
Derrick : "Great let's record 2 parts. 1st part with the theme, 2nd part, we record your solo over the same progression"
Alf : "OK. Let's make it sound like 2 instrumentalists. 1st recording I will play without any effects and extend my playing 1 bar extra at the end. In the 2nd, We overlap the 1st and 2nd but I will give the guitar the midi piano effect so it sounds like 2 players"
Derrick : "Sounds good. Keep the solo really spanish and clean. Ready?"
Alf : "Let's go!"
