Why are widowed men and women allowed to re-marry - in the catholic Church? But not if they are divorced!?

funny episode:) ...just, for the record, according to the catholic church, EVERY marriage (regardless of the religious beliefs of the couple, or lack of them) is equally sacred and for life; and the same obviously goes for marriage vows (of whichever confession); so none within the couple could ever leave the other to enter to take up orders, or join religious life. (in other words, because Claudia is married she would never be accepted into any convent or monastery..!)
