This is the first-go using a 42" bar in a 36" Alaskan Sawmill. This is also
the first-go using the homemade slabbing bracket made out of 2x4's and
long flashing. The Balsm Fir in this vid is 18 feet long and 34" at its widest. Everything went very smooth - including the finished product. Next on the list is a big Western Red cedar that fell a few years ago....

  • @007hs hmmm, based on your profile Hugh (23 old Brit studying economics...), your critique doesn't come across as very credible. I could be wrong though... have you actually done any milling yourself?

  • haha. you need a real saw. this will take all day at the rate your going. im gonna have to put up a vid of a real saw mill production.

  • @FlyingVees12 Hi Grant! You'll just have to come by sometime and try it out... Besides getting a nice slab for your harvest-style table, I'm sure you would also get some good material for your next "Adventures in Solitude" book.

  • Ok that looks insanely dangerous BUT... I am in the market for a new harvest-style table for our cabin in the Sound... do you take orders?!? -Grant Lawrence
