Members of the first graduating class of the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism received their diplomas during a commencement ceremony held recently. In his speech to this year's 48 graduates, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Dean Baquet, an assistant managing editor and the Washington bureau chief of The New York Times, promised the class of 2007 " if you approach journalism with humanity"; focusing not on a career, but the craft, "You will change the world in small ways" and "have a blast".

@defectueux As if you need a 4 year degree to be a journalist. What a joke.

CUNY decided that it would eradicate journalism from its 4-year colleges... basically they decided that AD/PR and Film programs would bring in more revenue and there would be less need to give more money to the Media depts. as a whole
CUNY does offer a BA but it is under the City University of New York... and Journalism is still a minor at the undergrad level where you take half of your classes and take the rest at the CUNY center in mid-town...
