And a small description of how to get the Samurai Edge since I have been getting numberous messages about it.

To actually unlock it in the first place, you must beat the Main game in under 5 hours on Normal difficulty, or Hard difficulty. You can also defeat it in the same time, same difficulty, for the other two game modes: One Dangerous Zombie (what Im playing on) and Invisible Enemy mode.

To achieve this, skip every cutscene for watching them counts towards your final time, and try not to stay on the pause screen too much, since that also counts as time for the game,


Once you finish the game, after you get the screen which tells you your Grade and Time, you will get a SECOND screen (before being taken to main menu) which will tell you what you will have unlocked.

The Samurai Edge should pop up, and the game will tell you that you have unlocked it.

Now, SAVE when prompted. Or, if your game is a newer version, and not among the first released, you may not get an option to save. Dont worry, its automatic. But for those who do get the SAVE option, save over the file you finished the game on.

Now, simply go onto 'Load Game' and Load this new save file. You will be taken to the Main menu BUT it will look slightly differant.

Click on New Game, play as the character you played as (Chris or Jill) and select any modes. You MUST unlock the gun on Normal or Hard, but you can use it on all the difficulties.

Now, instead of a knife, your character will automatically come equipped with this Samurai Edge.

It is just as powerful as the normal handgun, but has a fast 3-round fire capability and infinite ammo. Also, it seems that with Chris, you will get a headshot more often than normal.

And there you have it. =] Enjoy


p.s. To answer a question I was asked, you cannot aim up and score a headshot with any handgun like you can with a shotgun. Jill has a less than 1% chance of scoring a headshot, while Chris' is roughly 5% - 10%

Simply beat the game on Normal/Hard mode in under 5 hours to unlock it. Which is much easier than it sounds. :D

And remember that the game timer continues to tick when watching cutscenes and at the pause screen. ;o

@cpmc1 idk, but its called One Dangerous Zombie mode and he actually follows u into about every major room. the zzombie is Forest from the ps1 version where u get the bazooka as jill or the shotgun as chris.

wait, THAT's the samurai edge????

I thought it was wesker's pistol. well I thought it was an a silver M92F with a black slide and brown/black grip...... what!? or does it just look different because the color of it makes certain parts stand out/in compared to the normal handgun.

I just unlocked mine, yesterday. The damage is rather disappointing but, not having to pick up any more mags should help. Another Chris benefit, as he only has the six slots.

Are you sure you did it on normal or hard ? Cuz that's only how to get the samurai edge

I don't know why everyone outside Japan makes this mistake, but "Samurai Edge" is actually the name of the default STARS M9 handgun, not specifically the one you unlock with the 5-hr speed run.
