The Orlando Science Center is asking for more public support than it has in its 10-year history.
The head of the Orlando Science Center has big plans for this new fun learning spot, which is costing more than $5 million, but on the heels of an 8 percent budget cut, the elimination of some jobs and other belt-tightening, the center is requesting $750,000 from Orange County this year, the biggest chunk ever, to pay bills and continue new construction and renovation.
"This is the time to invest in the Orlando Science Center that gets that future scientist and engineers interested in science and math, early in their life," said Orlando Science Center President Dr. Brian Tonner.
Eighteen percent of the science center's budget is paid by the county, Orlando, and the state.
