  • I see nothing but upside for this move. Good decision, BYU.

  • @Tarwater03 This whole thing is exactly about money. Over 50% of the revenue by the MWC is from two schools - BYU and Utah. Utah left for the PAC-10 and BYU wasn't invited because they don't allow religious institutions. The MWC TV deal is horrid so I'm glad they left. BYU has a huge national fanbase and this will increase exposure. Everybody knows that the BCS will never let the MWC in so the only thing they're missing is the annual invite to the Las Vega bowl.

  • @U0537150 : Bottom Line: there is no way to come up with a definitive answer for either team. There are just too many question marks. Though I can't stand most of the people behind the Utah Ute brand, I do hope the school succeeds in athletics. It can only help Utah, and the LDS Church, gain more exposure.

  • @U0537150 : Utah has zero history in a BCS Conference. That's the point. Week in and week out, better teams. Will your recruiting base improve? Not likely. SLC is no longer a big fish.

  • @U0537150 : Their all-time record against the PAC 10 is 52-90-3. This sheds much better light on their future in that conference.

  • @U0537150 : Nobody really knows what BYU can do on its own yet. And listening to a Ute fan parrot the opinions of pro-BCS shills is the stupidest thing anyone can do.

Why, yes I do, Ute0537150. I think your Utes will be facing lesser success than AU , and ASU had since they bolted from the WAC back in the 70's.

  • @U0537150 : It's also the best schedule they can come up with on such short notice. Talk to me in five years. You know, after the Utes really suck and have added that much more drag to the PAC 12.

  • @U0537150 : A decent schedule? How can it get any worse than the other 75% of the MWC? You're right. It can't. BYU has the best chance of surviving on its own. I say wish them good luck, and pray that Utah doesn't find its destiny as just another consistent lower to middle of the PAC team.

Yes, I know the entire story. It wasn't so much the Pac-10, but Cal Berkley. Your contention that BYU is relevant in college football, means nothing against a conference like the SEC, who wins the national title consistently. You, of course, leave out the fact that TCU didn't join the MWC until 2005 -- a serious blow to your assertion BYU on top of things there. They've won it twice since TCU joined, as have they. Again, I say -- foolish move to leave.

  • @Tarwater03 You have a very little understanding of BYU, the MWC, or the history of BYU football. You do know that BYU has won 4 of the last 10 MWC titles in football? (tied with Utah for the most) Since they hired Bronco Mendenhall BYU has had the 11th most wins of any college football team out of 120 FBS schools. Consistently in the top 25, yearly bowl game invitations, numerous 10 win seasons. Multiple players now in the NFL. I would call them anything but "irrelevant".
