damn, the phillies are still in clearwater. the yankees spent most of their spring training a few miles down the road in st. petersburg.
phhht. segregated baseball. well, it was for the yankees and phillies in 1950.
i hadn't realized dimaggio only played 13 seasons, his numbers would have been astounding if he could have stayed healthy.

This was the only time in their history that the Yankees trained in Arizona. For this year only, the Yankees and Giants "swapped" Spring training locations, the Yankees going to Phoenix and the Giants going to Fort Lauderdale. In the Yankee camp that Spring was their promising rookie, Mickey Mantle.
