"Under the Bridges of Paris" is a 1931 popular song with music written by Vincent Scotto, the original French lyrics (entitled "Sous les ponts de Paris") by Jean Rodor, and English lyrics by Dorcas Cochran.

Recordings by both Eartha Kitt and Dean Martin charted in the United Kingdom in 1955, but failed to chart in the United States, though both were subsequently released as LP album tracks as well.

The recording by Eartha Kitt with Henri René and his orchestra and chorus was made in New York City on October 25, 1953. It was released by RCA Victor Records as catalog number 20-5502 (in USA) and by EMI on the His Master's Voice label as catalog number B 10647.

  • Always brings a lump to my throat, this, as my late Mother used to sing this to me when I was a very small child on her knee (5o plus years ago!). Dino does this full justice. Thanks for posting!

  • I had forgotten this was in the movie Shall We Dance but to hear Dean Martin sing it is extra special since I am a big fan of his. I think this will be my favorite Dino song. Is there a recording available to purchase? Thanks for posting.

  • Does anyone have this song recorded by Violetta Villas? She probably sang it at Casino de Paris in Las Vegas in the late 1960s.

  • Thanks so much. I enjoy deano any time but this is more than special.

  • It's sooo romantic <3
