Actually, the best way to handle future actions like this would be to turn the cameras off, call the police, and wait. Similar to gunmen that shoot high profile targets. I think the Press should never print their names or agenda, just state "a 24 year old woman did (whatever)". Deny them the attention and notoriety they crave. Of course the Press would never do this, as they're in the business of selling commercial time, not reporting news.
