Some ordinary women friends I know have hundreds of shoes and I would not even consider them close to rich at all.

Most of those shoes were gifts from Filipino shoe manufacturers. She wore them to promote the Philippine shoe industry at the time. In the span of two decades of Marcos rule, she had a big collection because she didn't want to throw them away.
