On the Road to London 2012

UK diplomat and marathon runner Mara Yamauchi bids for a place in the Great Britain squad by racing in Japan
Mara, who came 6th at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, recently visited Japan to take part in the Yokohama Womens' Marathon. She finished in 3rd place, meeting the required time to be selected for Great Britain's London 2012 squad.

英国外務省職員であり、北京オリンピック６位入賞を果たしたマーラ・ヤマウチ選手が横浜国際女子マラソンに出場するために来日しました。
11月20日（日）に行われた横浜国際女子マラソンでは、見事3位に入り、来年のロンドン・オリンピック代表選出に向けて、さらなる弾みをつけました。

A couple of years ago, Mara took the time to write to my now 13-year-old, cross-country running daughter. She not only extended to her some excellent advice, but also some lovely words of encouragement. Mara really is a credit to the British team. Go Mara!!
