Surfrider Ely Sets an Example for Teens | PBteen

Ely, a competitive surf rider, is a member of the Surfrider Foundation and loves the ocean. In this video, Ely talks about how important it is to keep the ocean clean.

Ely loves the ocean because he loves surfing and he says that when he is surfing, and he catches a wave, it gives him an awesome feeling. He has noticed that post the rains the water in the ocean gets dirty. Instead of the blue or green color, it looks brown and uninviting, says Ely. He has also noticed that there is trash floating around in the ocean.

Ely thinks that people do not realize that small actions can make a big difference. He cycles instead of driving to his friends' houses and says that it's easy to pick up any trash you see along the way. All you have to do is bend over and pick it up. Ely signs off by saying that we need to realize that we are responsible for taking care of the Earth.
