@atlaswingpasaway Holy crap people are actually listening to me???
Er, um, *ahem* - yes! Why of course. Anything that requires more effort than you were using before is a toning exercise.

@KaseyAkira so any physical activity that requires more effort can cause toning?

is it ok to lift your heels?
-
@pspnuts No. If I were you I would do body weight exercises. No weights yet and some light cardio. You want to get most of your workout from the body weight exercises. Don't eat less, just eat better. Eat grilled or baked chicken, beans, fish, spinach, salad, olive oil, nuts, etc. If you eat too few calories your body will go into starvation mode, and you will lose muscle, not fat; which will cause you to burn less calories. That is exactly what you DON"T want to happen. Good luck.

And why not?
The word "tone" refers to an increase in electrical activity in the muscle at any given time. Once a muscle is put in use, this happens automatically. You can tone your muscles by washing dishes and mowing the lawn - you cannot avoid toning!! It happens REGARDLESS of the exercise. You can lift 1 time, you can lift 100 times. Since all exercises are toning, there are no "toning exercises".
