  • @thethrongs...but see you're still on that "corporations are evil and in control" train, and if you read their biography, or have met and talked with the band, as I have, you'd know that these guys totally and completely steer their own ship in terms of songwriting and the sound they want. They admit they have had very little exposure to a lot of modern music when they started out and that tours with Pearl Jam and U2 have shaped their sound...but not some guy in a suit and a calculator, come on.

  • Beach Side is growing on me!!! The whole album is a "grower" for sure ;)

  • @thethrongs...well then maybe you should read their biographgy, but I doubt it will dissuade you from espousing your opinions about KOL and their music, as it's been my experience that once someone latches on to the "they are just corporate drones...they sold out" bandwagon they rarely get off it. It's also interesting that once folks like you are in this camp, you can no longer see the music as decent even if it is, simply because of how the band "used to be". Oh well, I love the CD :)

  • I said "unlike" a lot of these original fans...sounded like "I'm like"...;)

  • you hit the nail on the head dude :)

thanks for the review, seems you're one of the few people who know what they're talking about when it comes to this album. Nice one! :)

  • @fish5141 Well you just dont know what the blues is thats all.

  • @Taygoo15

are u kidding me? i mean its not like ya know flat out 100% blues but its deff a blues rock song. The bass line and guitar solo are prty blues. cables singing is like mix of blues and country in this.

  • @fish5141 Mary is not a blues song dummy

  • I agree for the most part i dont like when ppl say they are sellouts, i mean they have a blues song (marry) a country song (back down south) funky song (pony up) a curchish gospel like song (radioactive) a surfer beachy song (beachside). So yeah none of that is mainstream by any means. Anyways my fav is prly pyro or mary. Other then that they are all amazing even beachside

  • First off, thank you for being an open minded "original fan"! :D

I think this album was amazing! I don't see why so many people find it "lazy"? You took the words out of my mouth! ONLY thing is I love Beach Side! HAHA! I wish they would use the version of Radioactive from the music video. Every album has been a new/unique stage in KOLs career! They've done a great job at reinventing themselves yet again! KOL is the Phoenix of this industry! I love all the songs off the album so far!

  • I've actually read quite a bit about them, and I respect a lot about them, primarily their ability to write and perform vibrantly in an industry that has essentially castrated itself in terms of innovation and spark. Hey, if the corporate hounds steered them in the direction of a more Edward Sharpe-y sound (something I think they're more naturally inclined toward anyway), I'd be all for it. But this blase, lazy, American Idol-friendly trajectory they've adopted is far from progressive.
