PSP Tenchu Time of the Assassins

An early PSP release but very dissapointing.

The game revolves around completing missions controlling various characters.
The story is told through cutscene videos and characters with speech bubbles, the cutscene videos are pretty good with good videos, the speech bubble storyline is rather basic and the dialogue is simple and bland.

Tenchu's graphics are pretty awful, especially the painfully simple enviroments.
Camera angles are truely dire, they leave you wondering why your bothering to play such an awfully laid out game.

Sound effects are simple weapon swooshes and clangs, as you engage in battle.
Music is quite good and is typically of a Samuri/Ninja game from the far East.

Gameplay is hopelessly hindered by those nasty camera angles, engaging in battle can be difficult as the camera tends to point anywhere but on your enemies.
You can lock on to your opponents using the left PSP shoulder button but this still doesn't solve the problem of loosing your opponents during battles.

You can Grappling hook yourself on to roof tops, creep up and assassinate enemies with a stealth kill but the whole game stinks badly.


This game should be avoided, it has very little to recommend, we must hope the next Tenchu game is a much improved effort. Meanwhile, ship this game back to the Far East and chop it into a thousand pieces with a samuri sword.

i some what agree but i must say the combo of rikimaru has improved here while tatsumarus move is kinda lame except his ultimate combo!

but i guess tenchu 3 of the ps 2 is better hope it will be available now on psp
