I had a model like that...I used it so much, when my normal grill died, i upgraded to the Green Egg... I love it.. so much easier.. the brinkman was harder to keep at temp. Food was good on both though! I did think it was funny you said that your Xmas gift was cheap o...haha

@dgmunch Have you used much since? I just got mine have not used it yet any tips. I got mine as an anniversary gift from USG then they laid me off. Oh well

i have this same grill.i have made large hams to hotdogs and everything in between. i use it at least twice a week

Have you tried lining the inside with heavy foil? I got one as a work anniversary gift and it's a fuel hog and has a hard time keeping temps. I'm thinking about taking some heavy foil and lining the insides and bottom pan to attempt to keep the heat from escaping. Oh, and get a small oven thermometer. Better than that crappy, "warm, ideal, hot".

Is that snow or are you near Mt Pinatubo while is is spewing ash ? LoL Hey i have this model too - So Cal. I love this little smoker ~ For a starter smoker and the price its a good deal. I modifed mine too, Dont forget to oil the wooden handles. w/ olive or veggie oil, so they dont crack.
This is a charcoal smoker, works pretty good right now even in the cold, too get the heat up I put some air holes in the bottom of charcoal pan. Pretty lightweight metal, drilling inch holes turned into more like ripping them.
