The Annexe Gallery presents TOMBOYS & ANGELS, a fashion show that celebrates gender diversity and outrageous individual expressions of style.

The show featured clothes, accessories and works of art from over forty Art For Grabs arts & crafts stalls, with styling and make up by a team of some of KL's most vibrant emerging style-meisters led by Jun Kit and Ooi Ying Nee. The catwalk is an installation that mixes politics and irreverence designed by Lainie Yeoh.

Although pitched as 'nothing to do with the fatwa', the show does come soon after the religious edict by the National Fatwa Council against 'tomboyism' and cross-dressing.

It was also the first show of its kind ever held in the country and seemed to reflect the growing dissatisfaction of people against what they see to be increasing incursions by the religious authorities into their lives.

Following the fatwa against 'tomboyism' the Council issued another one banning Muslims from practicing yoga.

  • sangat sedih orang melayu masih mundur dalam pemikiran...this is a startup for better things to come.Jangan dijerut oleh pemerintah, keluar and be heard.

Walau mereka2 dlm video ni nampak pelik tapi mereka mempunyai hati yg murni & suci.

  • i see this as plain stupidity and immaturity among youngsters of the modern world. They lost track of who they are, where they gonna be and what they gonna become of the future. You are actually ruining your teenage development years ! All you youngsters, can you envision in 2020 these kind of society will take up post to manage the country ? M'sia will collapse ...... Do some soul searching my dear youngsters .

  • OMG..is that the guy who played irwan in gol and gincu?

  • Dude...whenever people want to do soul searching, to find their inner true colours they always lack behind the "core" element of faith. Why don't do both??even the ions have opposite charges...it would only spell catastrophe if they decided to change what has been intended.

  • apa la masalah diorg kat vid ni??!! adusss
