Hey it's Seren! This is the second episode of my 2010 series. This is a simple repetitive song to commemorate Rev.Dr.Martin Luther King Jr., whose Birthday Falls on 15th Jan 1929, and is celebrated with a public holiday on 18th Jan this year. I have weaved in voiceovers from MLK's Classic Speeches to give it a more meaningful touch. Full Mp3s of MLK's speeches can be easily found on the internet if you are interested. If you enjoyed it, please leave a comment, and be subscribed to Spirit Teahouse. :-)

"WE SHALL OVERCOME" LYRICS, & QUOTES FROM MLK SPEECHES:
We shall overcome, we shall overcome,
We shall overcome someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I know that I do believe,
We shall overcome someday.
Martin Luther King Jr:
"We shall overcome, Deep in my heart I do believe we shall overcome. I joined hands with students behind jail bars singing "We shall overcome". Sometimes we had tears in our eyes when we joined together to sing it, but we still decided to sing it, "We shall overcome"."
Martin Luther King Jr:
"[...] will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today."
The Lord will see us through, The Lord will see us through,
The Lord will see us through someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I know that I do believe,
We shall overcome someday.
Martin Luther King Jr:
"Oh before this victory is won, some will have to get thrown in jail some more, but we shall overcome. Don't worry about us before the victory is won, some of us will lose jobs, but we shall overcome. Before the victory is won, some will even have to face physical death [...]"
We're on to victory, We're on to victory,
We're on to victory someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I know that I do believe,
We're on to victory someday.
Martin Luther King Jr.:
"One day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today."
We'll walk hand in hand, we'll walk hand in hand,
We'll walk hand in hand someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I know that I do believe,
We'll walk hand in hand someday.
Martin Luther King Jr.:
"So I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. My eyes have seen the glory of the comming of the Lord!" - (This was his last speech before his assination, which was said to be prophesizing his death.)
We are not afraid, we are not afraid,
We are not afraid today;
Oh, deep in my heart, I know that I do believe,
We are not afraid today.
Martin Luther King Jr.:
"We shall overcome because (Thomas Carlyle) is right - no lie can live forever.
We shall overcome because William Cullen Bryant is right - truth crushed to earth will rise again. "
The truth shall set us free , the truth shall set us free,
The truth shall set us free someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I know that I do believe,
The truth shall set us free someday.
Martin Luther King Jr.:
"... when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"
We shall live in peace, we shall live in peace,
We shall live in peace someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I know that I do believe,
We shall live in peace someday.
Martin Luther King Jr.:
"Let me proclaim here and now, that I'm still convinced, that the philosophy and practice of non-violence affords a more excellent way to improve the inadequacies existing in the American social system. The method of non-violent resistance is effective, and that it has a way of disarming the opponent. It exposes moral defences, weakens his morale, at the same time it works on his conscience. I believe we will win it because the goal of America is freedom. Abused and scorned we may be, our destiny is tied up with the destiny of America."
Heart felt! I love this... I will definately show my students your vid. Also could you give me insight on how to find out more about the guzheng? I teach music and think it's a beautiful instrument that should be exposed to my students.

@jack2lives Thank you so much. :) The best source of information for the guzheng would be wikipedia. Haven't found anything better in English. ;-)
