This is very inspiring, but I see that Bobby Floyd plays 10th (a third above octave) a lot with his left hand. 10th are great for defining the chord, but what if your hand wont span a 10th? The Warren Bernhardt piano method presents the same problem.

Do you have any advice for those of us who - short of using a prosthetic device - can't play 10ths?

@b5b9 I can't play 10ths very well myself so don't feel bad. It is definitely a more advanced technique... However, don't think that because you can't "span" a 10th size-wise with your left hand that it can't be done. Just quickly "rock" from the bottom to the top playing the top note a split second later than the lower note. You hear it played like that so often I think because not many people have big enough mitts to actually play the tenth perfectly together ;-)
