baby steps man, your not gonna pick up a guitar for the first time and start rippin it. everyone starts with down strokes. when you get pretty good and comfortable with it, you can do it pretty fast, now on the alternate picking. especially if a minor pentatonic is the scale of choice. easy, but can be hard if you try to run with it. slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.

Greg , i have been trying to play the electric guitar for a bit now , progression is slow, but my enthusiasm remains at all time high , in the past i have ignored the minor pentatonic scale, i have jumped in at the deep end with out a life belt , After seeing your video, a life boat has come to my rescue . Getting the basics right is a must, a lesson as been learnt. Many thanks, Gary Sheffield England

People playing this for the first time usually find it easier to use all downstrokes at first.
