Nature videographer Will Michael explores the migration of the elusive yellow spotted salamander in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Each spring, thousands of these fascinating creatures, as well as other amphibians, migrate to vernal pools throughout the Northeastern United States to breed and lay their eggs. This event, rarely recorded by humans, occurs only once a year on one or two nights in late March, usually preceded by a period of warmer weather and heavy rainfall. The Online Naturalist brings this remarkable story from the deep recesses of the New England forest straight to your computer screen!
