The newly relocated Schofields was opened to the public on the 29th October 2011, after much controversy due to its relocation to an undeveloped area, 800m away from the developed small central business district along with the majority of the residential area.

The reason for such move was to create additional land needed for rail line duplication, and in turn will allow more train services and thus will be beneficial in the long term, in terms of serving the area with trains as transport.

Consequently it has yet to be officially opened by the authorities.

New, relocated Schofields Station now open
Posted: Tuesday 4 October 2011. Updated Saturday 29 October 2011

A new station has been built at Schofields as part of the Quakers Hill to Schofields Duplication project and opened on Saturday 29 October 2011. The new, relocated Schofields Station is approximately 800 metres south of Schofields village and less than 350 metres south of Schofields Road.

The Quakers Hill to Schofields Duplication project including the new Schofields Station, provides customers at Schofields with a more frequent service. The opening of the new Schofields Station means that all trains to and from Richmond now stop at Schofields, and most peak City services that currently start/terminate at Quakers Hill now start/terminate at Schofields.

The state-of-the-art facilities at the new Schofields Station have been tailored to the community and include:

230 car spaces - three times more than the existing station - with 120 on the Bridge Street side and 110 on the Railway Terrace side
A new bus interchange
Stair and lift access to a covered concourse and the platform
40 bike racks - 20 on each side of the station
Kiss-and-Ride facilities for passenger pick-up and drop off
Disabled parking close to station lifts
Ticket machines/window located on the covered concourse
A link to Bridge Street, providing direct vehicle and pedestrian access
Pedestrian path along Bridge Street and shared cycle/ pedestrian path along Railway Terrace, providing access from Schofields village to the station
The T74 bus service has be extended to operate between Riverstone and Blacktown via the new Schofields Station, Stanhope Gardens and Parklea Markets. These services operate 7 days a week, running every 30 minutes on weekdays and hourly on weekends.

New Schofields Station opening 29 October 2011

With the opening of the new Schofields Station on the 29 October 2011 works on the Richmond Line Duplication project are nearing completion.

The new state-of-the-art station will feature lift access, 230 car spaces, a bus interchange, passenger drop-off zones, disabled parking close to lifts as well as CCTV camera surveillance.

Duplication of the track will allow for greater frequency and reliability of peak services and cater for future passenger demands.

Prior to the opening on the 29 October 2011 a four-week trackwork shutdown will take place on the Richmond Line when buses will replace trains. This four-week period also includes a number of other significant events, including the closure of the existing Schofields Station, the temporary closure of the pedestrian footbridge, road closures on Railway Terrace and construction of a rail overbridge to allow for the potential future extension of Schofields Road.

For more information about the planned transition to the new Schofields Station, refer to the construction notice or visit one of the community information desks.

For information about train services, regular bus services, bus services during the rail closure and other transport information, contact the Transport Infoline on 131500 or www.131500.info

  • @chalmerz I always wonder if the nearby business ever got compensated. Judging from the harsh criticism, it doesn't appear so, that they didn't get offered enough or simply because they did not want to.

  • I think they put another track next to the one going all the way to vineyard

  • @HaydenColeman1999 They will be doing that in the future.

  • Is the old schofields station still there or

  • @HaydenColeman1999 I think it has been demolished

  • @HaydenColeman1999 .... they put the new dual track from Quakers hill to the new schofields station, end of stage 1 , including the station and 2 carparks =$246,000,000, bargain.not

  • @chalmerz Greg Norman owns across the creek ,approx closer to the station than the average person living in Schofields.....

  • In 2008 In Perth they got 72 kilometres with 11 stations (two underground, and most with well-integrated bus interchanges and hundreds of park-and-ride spaces), a stabling yard, two major water-crossings plus more than a kilometre of tunnel under the city and the project came in for just $17 million a kilometre...... we got ripped here in NSW

  • $246million AUSSIE DOLLARS, unbelievable, what a ripoff in every way, $246million real dollars, 3.1klm of new track, a poxy looking cheapo construction KFC looking railway station in the middle of nowhere.

The local people of schofields got there village stolen, all the Businesses , except the grog shop are dead or dying, Grog is an essential........

$246million, prolly 20% over budget, 46 brand new HILUX utes, to make a railway station, unbelievable....

  • Id like to know what the whole project cost? How much the budget blew out by?What the waste factor is and is anyone accountable?....
