This is micro-videography of a Schistosome, a fluke parasite found in both fresh and salt-water habitats where their hosts - snails and mergansers and other water birds are present. In the area where these were found humans are an incompatible host. These parasites burrow into human flesh, their swimming tail appendage breaks off and then they die because humans are the wrong host. That is why swimmers itch due to the irritation of the dead, burrowed Schistosome.
