Easy to accomplish with those
"strike-anywhere" matches...
...but hard to avoid breaking the
match or burning your fingers if
you don't do it right, sometimes!

Listening to the DVD of White Christmas with Rosemary Clooney doing the audio commentary on it, Bing Crosby did a certain ad lib in this scene which made Dean Jagger laugh. He actually did other ad libs in the movie which are pretty visible.
