I wonder what victrolaman thinks of all the Homestuck comments.

I appreciate most of the comments, but have had to remove a few from time to time because some contained profanity. Also note that in addition to this video, The music portion of this video was admittedly "ripped" from Victrolaman's efforts here, and used on the only other entry on You Tube of this wonderful song by Eddie Morton. That other entry now has over 135,000 hits. At least that individual was upfront enough to admit his use of Victrolaman's efforts, in his detailed information.

A few years ago, a friend and fellow collector and member of MOCAPS, had acquired a large amount of records from this era, and after picking out the ones he wanted to keep, he sold to rest to some of fellow collectors at a reasonable price. This was one that I was fortunate to buy from him.

I'm glad Homestuck made this song popular again. This amazing song might have been forgotten almost completely otherwise.

I start watching and realize it's midnight.

I start looking at the needle and the camera focuses on it.

    Can't help but smile.

Man, imagine telling the guy that in the year 2010, this song would be come really popular thanks to a webcomic. ... Granted, it would be hard to explain just what a webcomic is to a person from the early 1900s, but I've heard Hussie explain more complex things.

How to make old songs new again: 1) Make a very popular webcomic 2) Reroute all 91,203 fans to a video of it on YouTube. Done.

Is there any chance you can get a better audio track from this record by mounting the microphone fixed in front of the horn during recording? A lot of people would like a better copy of this recording if possible (and copyright on this particular music has lapsed)

Thank you Victrolaman for providing this great historical piece.

It's fascinating to know this piece's origin and to see how it was changed in the popular webcomic, knowing that none of the words changed.

This audio is over a hundred years old, I think that's pretty awesome.

I love "old" technology such as this record player because in an age where everything is electronic and "advanced" this is something that is rarely seen. Thanks for posting this !

You know, no matter how far technology advances, things like this really still continue to amaze me. They operate on such simple principles, (though this is a relative term used cautiously in response to those that may feel differently) yet they are able to produce such elegant sound. I have a modern player that I play my Pink Floyd record on from time to time, but the sound...I think you really cannot really beat the sound of the older models. Kind of funny. We lose a little to gain a little.
