This event never fails to surprise the thousands of visitors who arrive from all over Britain to take part or just enjoy the sheer spectacle of this bi-annual gathering. There are battle re-enactments, tribute singers, troop trains, spectacular parades and much much more. You've got to see it to believe it.
Excellent compilation Hugh of such a wonderful event, you certainly got the atmosphere just perfect. Dare I say the trains came second to the efforts the people and characters must have put in. Thanks for sharing your footage.
Regards Phil.

I agree it's a great weekend where so many people get involved and there's so much to see Hugh. Loved the Merlin - surprised it didn't take off! Saw a marine diesel that filled a whole lowloader at Malpas show. Shook the whole showground when that lit up. Got to admire the skills of the restorers. Chris

@khankadet Yes the Merlin was impressive. The prop was chopped to half its normal size, but it still put out a fair old draught. Talking to the blokes who were operating it, I suggested they get a couple of those full face visors, the kind you see machine operators use, because on the day they were at the ELR, it was raining and the Merlin was propelling it at them like stair rods. The following day they was at the Chipping Steam fair.
