The world is a complex place, war and peace are not opposites. The Army (and rest of the military) only acts to support diplomatic efforts. Sometimes, its in the front kicking in door, other times its in the back handing out water bottles and stickers. It is good that the Army is adapting to a changing world.

the military is just a tool of politicians. The fact that they are trying to build up too besides fighting is not so unique, the Roman army was too an unbelievable building force. and fact is, the genera is realy an intelligent man with sharp insights, even more than many politicians.

Caldwell's comments are HIS OWN-they don't represent the views of common soldiers. He speaks of nation building as if Germany and Japan were never occupied. This man is hewing a PC line out of the state department.

Political objectives have Economic Objectives;

Economic Objectives maintain the Peace.

Economic Objectives are secured by Diplomatic Initiative.

Whats has SECState Rice been doing because US State Dept hasn't applied its diplomatic corp to secure US strategic posture?
