In 2004 an original, signed, Maxfield Parrish painting entitled Jack Spratt was anonymously left at the door of a hospital resale shop in Downers Grove, Il. Research by me (N. Shack) led to the authentication of the painting by Parrish expert Alma Gilbert. The painting was sold privately for $150,000 and Good Samaritan Hospital received $100,000 from the proceeds. Wow! I wish I had a Maxfield Parrish hanging around. I am glad the proceeds will go to a hospital. :)
