Shame about the dodgy dubbing on the English-language edition - especially on Howard Vernon's character. But he is at his absolute slimiest in that movie.

  • @dcamaggots Yes sir it is. Super rare too to find and English Language tape of it as well. Fully uncut footage and completely uncensored somebody sold me that tape from Sweden the cover of the tape is ridiculious too. Just three naked chick on it I was like hot dog I'm buying this.

  • @hchristos

I was thinking of another Tropical Inferno, which is Furia En El Tropico (1986). Cell Block 9 I've seen, and it's possibly the best of the Franco WIP movies I've seen so far. I didn't know Cell Block 9 had the Tropical Inferno title.

  • @dcamaggots Tropical Inferno Cell Block 9 starring Howard Vernon as Dr. Milton. Released in 1977 I just bought the Swedish PAL tape on VHS the other day. It's uncut and uncensored English release. Excellent sleaze.

  • @hchristos

For all its (many) flaws, BLOODY MOON has a Mickey Mouse-masked killer, and of course, there's the 'Shake It, Baby' song at the start. Got to give it some credit for that.

Which version of Tropical Inferno is it that you have? I've never seen both versions, but have heard about it.

  • @dcamaggots Bloody Moon is fucking sick and I love Tropical Inferno that stuff is amazing.

  • @hchristos

Franco's WIP stuff tends to work (specifically the Dietrichs), as does LOVE LETTERS, BLOODY MOON, some of the Clifford Browns, a handful of his Sixties stuff, FACELESS, and one or two of his cheapie 80s action movies.

He can make good movies when he wants to and he's an interesting character, but he's also made far too much deadening crap that one has to tread carefully with Franco.

Anything made post-FACELESS isn't even worth a second glance, especially his post-2000 films.

  • @dcamaggots True that. I have the uncut/uncensored Dutch PAL VHS version of this movie. It's down right zany. Anyways I think I'm getting a soft spot for Franco films I mean he isn't as ridiculous as N.G.M. Now that guy knows how to make a bad movie.
