  • We must fight this, we must NOT loose classic old 50s, 60s and 70s cars

  • Car scrappage plans are bullshit, why dont the government give people £2000 to make their cars more environmentally friendly, like converting petrol cars to LPG that costs £1000-£2000 and helping people converting diesel cars to biodiesel, that also costs around £1000-£2000. Then there will be no scrap but cars recycled into fully useful green cars, someone put a bullet through this governments head please.

The reason they dont is TAX, they get Tax from the sales, lots of it.

  • all the way from America i believe in ya buddy good luck campaigning i need a new car lol an English export would be nice.

  • 35 miles to the gallon is shit, I've got a Peugeot 306 1.9 D Turbo and it does 50mpg! Yet I pay an arm and a leg on tax (£205)

  • As George Carlin so eloquently put in on one of his stand up routines, " Buyin' things. Buyin' things. Spendin' money they don't have, on things they don't need."

  • It's all a CON TRICK.

The car industry has been upping the price of new motors to compensate for this 'offer'.

Have you asked yourself just WHO is funding this scam?

    Yes - YOU the taxpayer!

Too many selfish idiots have fallen for this deception.

If the offer is still going, please don't be tempted, it really ISN'T a good deal.

  • l don't like car scrappage plans why do thy aks mot your car if it just going to a scrap some cars worth lot monnay

as l am a scrap dealer l see la lot good vehcle' shod't be getting scrap . they shod the be scrapping the car scrappage deal

  • I hope people know that new cars tend to breakdown more often as they are so complicated and have so much electronics on them which always seem to go wrong, im a mechanic and people get a shock at some of the repaire bill for a 4 yr old car which, plus on new cars nearly every thing is plastic and the avarage engine oil capacity is double to what it was 10 years ago ( his corsa takes 3l of oil, new corsa 5.5 l of oil) get my drift

  • Nah im serious. All the cars back in those days were just box's on wheels! and now most modern cars are more streamlined. im talking about 80's and 90's cars

  • Are you taking hte piss? Something like a Morris Minor look much better than something boring like a Peugeot 306, or even 307!

  • Yeah we must loose them all! crush them all so theres none left! all the cars u had in the past looked shit and boring. and they didnt look good enough. youve lost anyway!! hahahaha

  • You overlook that the scrapage scheme is aimed at boosting the new car market (and used market - a report showed prices of older cars have gone up since scrapage). There are also other benefits from scrapping older cars - I'd rather be in a new Corsa in a crash than in yours (see NCAP). Newer cars have to conform to tougher emissions standards - so you can have a lot more economy/less emissions for the same performance. The scrapage scheme extends the reach of those looking to upgrade also.
