No virgin sacrifices or Edward Woodward burnt in a wicker man, but there are a couple of huge maypoles in this video of local celebrations to mark the return of the fecund season in the seaside town of St Ives, Cornwall.

    That's because Maypole dancing isn't Celtic it's Germanic.
