wow it's not all compressed to make the quiet parts as loud as the loud parts. HOW DIFFERENT from the dynamically obliterated junk the record companies have turned all modern music into.

@rajtennis Dionne Warwick then Lou Johnson were first two people to record this song. Again let's not forget Hal David wrote the lyrics Burt wrote the music. Dusty has a great verison but the Dionne version was a minor pop hit and bigger R&B hit until Luther Vandross recording. But many, many artist recorded the song.

Ok.. Some corrections are in order. That song was not written for Mavis. She just does the best version. No one can touch it! Burt wrote that song for Angie Dickenson. The first person to sing this song was Dusty Springfield. You should look her up as she was one of Burt's muses.

Mine too. As good as Luther's was, it could not touch Mavis' when she was in her prime. It was as if that song was written especially for her. I listen to her original version all the time.
Mavis version of this song has always been my favorite!
