The thing with freedom and liberty is: There are always people wanting to take it away from you. It must be fought hard for. Year after year, generation after generation it must be fought for. yes rome was a spectacular empire that brought many innovations we still enjoy today

however for sheer scope america has an unmatched ability to destroy any place on the globe in a matter of a few short hours.

@lethal1960 - Rome colonized nearly all of Europe, parts of Russia, Asia major and minor and most of north africa. They brought law, sanitation, agriculture, medicine, writing, common languages and embraced other cultures, integrating many worthwhile cultural norms into their own. All the US has done is invade and destroy. Granted Rome did alot of that. The US is an ant compared to Rome's blue whale, you are mistaken.

america has over 700 military bases world wide and that makes it the largest.

All empires fall that is the nature of empire building

America will always be a significant economy due to its 310 million people in an advanced economy but it wont be the greatest for long probably within our lifetimes it will diminish and like great britain will have to get used to being second best,this time to china and asia/oceania

@lethal1960 - Rome lasted more than a thousand years. The US in comparison is a minor insignificant ripple in the water compared to Rome's million-mile high tsunami. The US is not "the greatest empire in history" it is merely the latest upstart that will perish in the same sort of violence it was founded in.
